What is the best treatment for a car with metallic paint that got scraped with a pole that left paint residue?

I scraped my mustang on a pole. It left scatches and paint from the pole. Should I use a rubbing compound, clean the area and then use a rubbing compound to remove paint and scratches, or something else altogether? What is the best treatment for a car with metallic paint that got scraped with a pole that left paint residue?
Wash your car before you do anything with the paint. Use a polishing compound. Your best bet with it is to go over the area back and forth. When you get the area fixed if makes the rest of the area look bad go over the whole area the same way. If if makes the rest of your car look bad go over your whole car with it. After that's done put a good coat of wax over the whole car. What is the best treatment for a car with metallic paint that got scraped with a pole that left paint residue?
try polishing compund first - its less abrasive that rubbing compound - just remember to re-wax the area when done.
Claybar works well at removing paint from paint, one of my friends got his fender scraped by a car door and it exchanged paint, the claybar removed it well
