About using metallic paint...?

I want to paint my bedroom walls gray with a metallic silver sheen. I found some beautiful silver paint and have been experimenting using a gray base coat and mixing the silver paint with glaze for a top coat. I LOVE the results. My problem is, whenever I went to a paint store and asked about using metallic paint to do a faux paint treatment, the sales person invariably said ';It can't be done.'; WHY? They didn't have any reason, just said metallic paint can't be used for faux painting.

Is there something I should know? Will the metallic paint peel off the wall in 2 weeks or what?

I'm cleaning and sanding the walls, using Glidden Gripper primer, the glaze, gray and silver paints are from Behr.About using metallic paint...?
Don't listen to the idiots that work there! I did what you want to the walls in my kitchen using a blue base coat and metallic silver and glaze on top. Use the gray base coat and go for it!About using metallic paint...?
We are thinking of doing a ceiling with the metallic finish. The directions say to add a quart of metallic to the colored paint, we are using blue paint and gold metallic.
