Is there a difference in the durability and care for a car with metallic vs. non-metallic paint?

I'm buying a new car and I hear metallic wears more easily than non-metallic, yadda-yadda-yadda. What's the real scoop? Is there any significant difference aside from the actual look of the car? I used to live in California and didn't really care about this stuff, but now I'm in the Midwest and worried about the salt, rust risk, etc.Is there a difference in the durability and care for a car with metallic vs. non-metallic paint?
no, sophra, not really. if there is , it is so minute that youll never know. Most newer cars have a clear coat on them, which protects them. if you take reasonalble care of it, it will last forever. as far as the salt and rust, wash it now and again, and youll be fine.Is there a difference in the durability and care for a car with metallic vs. non-metallic paint?
99% of the time it won't matter. The only time it will matter is if you have custom paint such as a ';candy';. These custom paints are more sensitive to sunlight and tend to fade faster. On a normal car color it won't matter. Most colors today are mettalic.
