Can you mix enamel metallic paint with ordinary exterior paint?

I'm trying to mix an exterior paint to match the antique look of wrought iron. The black base has a copper metallic coat look to it.Can you mix enamel metallic paint with ordinary exterior paint?
No you absolutely can not. You will spoil the paint.


Enamel has an oil base and is unique in it's qualities from other oil based paints or acrylic based ones.

If you want to achieve the antique look of wrought iron,paint your base coat with the enamel paint. After this has dried for a few days you can apply a black latex or acrylic paint with an old rag or cloth over the copper metalic base.


Rub this over the base coat until you achieve the look that you want.


Remember to apply a matt sealer or varnish over this technique.
